As someone who grew up going to Church and used to be a youth representitve for my church, I got some really big problems with Christian extremists. In particular, I cannot believe so many Christian extremists are focusing on the "sin of gay marriage."
This article talks about American Christians rallying together and putting all their effort into trying to ban gay marriage in California. Why are you focusing on gay marriage in particular when there are so many other "sins" you SHOULD be focusing on. Here are a couple other things Christians everywhere should rally for:
1) The Environment: If God put us on this Earth, then why are we polluting it so much? Religious folk should rally and protest each and every company, politician, and person who is not doing their job to preserve God's Earth. Repent polluters!!!
2) Corruption and Greed: If Christians haven't noticed, there is a huge economic crisis in the USA that will have a global ripple effect. This crisis was started and perpetuated by Greedy businessmen (and women) who made bad business deals in order to make themselves richer. God does not approve of greed or glutony so why are Christians rallying against the Wall Street haunchos and President Bush for being super sinners. Oh, and W. Bush should be in big trouble because it is totally against Christianity to speak on God's behalf, and Bush does that a lot.
Gays are just like us, but usually with better style. They have the same rights as heterosexuals in the kingdom of heaven as well as on God's Earth. Casting them out of society and calling them bad names is not productive.
And further more, wasn't Jesus an outcast? Didn't Jesus die for our sins because he knew that eventually everyone would come together and realize the truth about Christianity?!
Isn't it hypocritical to call something "wrong" and persecute it when Jesus taught us love, acceptance and patience?!
I would love to discuss this issue further with any Christian extremists. Any takers?
