Detroit in need of an economic stimulus package to the tune of $10 billion

Ever since U.S. companies decided to relocate their factories outside the U.S., American citizens have been severely punished...and Detroit is one of those cities.

Detroit was one of the car manufacturing capitals of the U.S. but ever since Ford and GM closed their factories a couple decades ago, the city has seen a huge rise in crime and poverty. Huh, wonder why?

Well, they have been in pretty bad shape for a while, occuring on the "most dangerous cities in America" list a few too many times (New Orleans beat them after Hurricane Katrina).
And now they are asking for 10$ billion for an economic stimulus. Council President Pro Tem JoAnn Watson sponsored the resolution to use the money for public service employment, to fund mass transit plans and to place a moratorium on home foreclosures for two years.

Even though there has been massive mismanagement of public policy in the city of Detroit, I would attribute most of the mismanagement to the fact that its #1 revenue was uprooted and sent to Mexico because CEO's could make more money off of it.

Read this article and discuss whether you think Detroit should get the money or not. The first comment after the article is very extreme, that comment alone should warrent some discussion.
Here is the comment posted below:
"40 plus years of hearing how Detroit and the Socialists of this state have run it and the state into the ground. i am not surprised that the Detroit City Council is kneeling at the alter of the Democrats in Washington to gimme, gimme ,gimme more money. This state has always cried for more for less. With all the social programs during the past 40 years, one would hope that progress toward self reliance would have taken hold. But, instead, its give me something for nothing attitude makes me wonder if all the social programs have created a populace of incompetance and dependancy. Perhaps some day, but not in my life time the populace of socialism will wake up and do something for themselves."
