Take a bite out of this: The Carrot Project

Have you thought or had this kind of conversation before?
"Gee, I wish I could be a conscious consumer, but since corporations are so evil and conniving, how do I know that I am actually buying a socially responsible product?"

With Greenwash, sly marketing campaigns, and just plain evil, corporations will never allow us to trust their products without an objective middleman who can even the playing field for customers.

Well, the Carrot Project is aiming to solve that problem.

The Carrot Project is a web-based resource for finding ethical products that are extensively researched by carrot crunchers like myself (aka volunteers) who really want to put the C back in "conscious consumer."

The goals is, "to build the tools to connect people to all the noteworthy information, in a digestable form, all at once," because, "We MUST, collectively, know more than what a Google search returns."

The site has different product categories, and people add review and comment on these products to make sure they are as crunchy (aka ethical) as possible. So, the site is constantly revising itself in order to stay on top of the most equitable brands.

This site has active discussions you can participate in, several categories you can add to (like finding ethical running shoes, for example), and it has updates, blog posts, and much more.

This project is still in the beta phase but I highly recommend you check it out.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Local Hero. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I'm not sure who you are. Identify yourself maybe? Or email jake at carrotproject dot com if you want to maintain the mystery on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you!
