Ok, now if you have ever heard of the power of a fillabuster, then you would be happy about this as well. Especially because Republicans (the GOP) have been abusing it for way too long.
Well, not any more.
I love it when politicans switch parties, for me, it's a sign of realizing your past mistakes and redeming yourself in the house of government. That's exactly what Arlen Spector has done.
Mr. Spector said, "I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans." And I'm ok with that.
Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Arlen Spector plans today to switch parties, a move intended to boost his chances of winning re-election next year that will also push Democrats closer to a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority. Super awesome, because politicans cannot waste another moment of time arguing over which social programs are staying and which ones will go. And might I remind you that it was social programs that pulled the U.S. out of the first depression. Plus the President (FDR) was a democrat and had a majority in Congress, so this arrangement works for me.
