Free Criminal Justice courses and the launch of the UN free University

I'm back from the depths of darkness, just long enought to post you this link for free courses on criminal justice.
I highly recommend we all take a class in criminal justice in order to become more aware of our enviroment and law in society.

I'm a sucker for free education, so here you go: http://criminaljusticeonlineblog.com/archives/where-to-find-free-criminal-justice-courses-online/

The United Nations launches the world’s first public, online, free university, named the University of the People.

Perhaps it’s not the world’s most pressing problem, but leading changemakers recognize that bridging the digital divide in the developing world is an important priority in the field of social development.

The only problem I see is that it's not entirely free. There is a small registration fee and a fee for exams, but you also have to be a high school graduate and speak English fluently. Now, this is easy for you and me, but the people that really need access to this resource are the ones that:
1) Cannot afford to pay these "nominal" fees
2) English is not universally spoken all over the world (no matter what English speakers say)
3) 12 years of education = high school diploma? For many all over the world, this is just not possible.

So you know what I say? If you going to make it really free and accesible then cut them some slack.

Check out the Univeristy and tell them what you think: http://www.uopeople.org/

Enjoy. Learn. Teach. Repeat.

Very interesting. I would be surprised if they didn’t have some way for prospective students to claim economic hardship so the fees would be waived. Particularly since the fees are quite nominal (though still clearly beyond what can be afforded by those who might benefit most).
