Living in an Olympic city: Should I stay or should I flee?

I avoid crowds, although I am attracted to them.
All in all though, crowds scare me. So when I heard that a projected two million extra people were going to be filling Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic games, my first thought was, "FLEE!"

But where to?
If you are familiar with Vancouver winters then you should know that they are dark and dreary and a test to one's mental stability. If you survive then you get the greatest gift on Earth, Vancouver summers so, in the end there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Nevertheless, when the thought of going through another dark and rainy winter entered my mind, I immediately thought Mexico!

So I shoved the thought in the back of my head for a while and let it simmer while I observed what was happening in Vancouver to prep for the games.

After the dust settled from all the crazy construction I realized that this is Vancouver's time to shine and why should I miss that? Oh yeah, 2 million tourists invading this city (not to judge, I used to be one myself).

I was torn, go to Mexico or stay in Vancouver? Miss the sun and surf or miss Vancouver's moment to shine? Finally, I settled for both.

I'm a "have cake and eat it to" kind of gal, so in the end I have decided to go to Mexico for the first week of the Olympics to avoid the crazy crowds and then come back for the last 4 days, in order to see what the hullabaloo is all about.

Good idea? Not sure, we'll have to see.
