XX my heart all over again

I have already blogged about the XX, but their show was so good I need to mention it again.

The XX are some young 20-somethings that rock the best ambient music i've heard in a while. How can one album be both relaxing and energizing at the same time? I'm not musically talented so I can't answer the question but these peeps did it up right.

They played at the Commodore and the acoustics were unreal. The bass literally vibrated my chest and the ambiance was whimsical.

And considering they only have one album that most of the crowd (including myself) knew all the words to, they made some awesome segues and interludes that kept us all super entertained.

The set list went as follows:

Crystalised
Islands
Heart Skipped a Beat
Fantasy
Shelter
VCR
Do You Mind (Kyla Cover)
Basic Space
Night time
Infinity

And for the encore they ended with the last song on their album...
Stars

The set up was really well done as well. In the beginning they were all playing behind a white sheet which displayed their cool shadows then....all of a sudden the sheet drops and the players came alive.

Then came the huge X in the background (as if anyone was guessing who they were) and for the last song they had twinkly lights all about...truly a magical experience if you ask me.

Plus, I was worried that they would get arrogant on their second visit to Vancouver due to their immense popularity but it turned out that they appear to be more humble. They thanked Vancouver for having them and even brought the opening acts on stage just to thank them for touring with them...it was sweet to say the least.

Damnit, those brits have XX-ed my heart all over again.
