It doesn't matter how old the philosopy is...sometimes it is just spot on!


Alexis de Tocqueville was a French philosopher that came to the USA way back in the day (the 1800s) and was fascinated with socio-economics in the USA. He was also many other things but I'm not going to get into that right now. His most famous work was most likely Deomocracy in America. If you like really dry old text, you will love this, otherwise just read below.

Tocqueville was inamoured of the US economic free-market system, opposed to the 18th aristocracy that was still ruling France, but he also believed the US system could be quite dangerous if exploited.

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."

This quote is so true it scares me.
