I miss JANE magazine

JANE magazine was my kind of magazine.

It was meant for political alternative culture junkies that like to learn random trivial pursuit facts and get get advice about make-up, style, and sex.

These types of magazines do not exist anymore and it is a damn shame.

Magazines put women in stupid categories without ever thinking we are not just shopping junkies (i.e. IN STYLE). We are not whores either (COSMOPOLITAIN), and some of us do not like flipping through 50 pages of ads before we get to a semi-decent article (VANITY FAIR).

Many of us are ADD, women are naturally multi-taskers and I want to see a political blurb next to a bit about how geese have life-longe mates alongside the best tips for doing it in public.

JANE spoke to me and I miss it.
The creator Jane Pratt also headed Sassy magazine, but I was too young to really read that one. Jane premiered in 1997 with Drew Barrymore on the cover and was around for about 10 years. In leiu of people not reading as much anymore it ended publication. If any JANE readers miss the magazine too, please tell me about your rants and maybe they will be listening. The magazine disappeared and came back once, hopefully it will come back again.

Until then, I will just read the Economist so no one stereo types me as a bimbo.
