Do you know what I find most sexy in a man? Honesty.
In the tarnished world of politics, and especially in U.S. politics, honesty is hard to come by...but not with Jimmy Carter.
Jimmy Carter was my favorite U.S. President ever. However, qualities like taking a firm stance against foreign military intervention and focusing on the environment were unlike other traditional U.S. Presidents, so Americans gave up on him. If he had 4 more years (instead of 8 years of the demon known as Reagan) the U.S. would not be in the position it is today. And if you don't believe me, I would love to discuss this matter further. Seriously.
Jimmy Carter has many accomplishments and his post-Presidential career has been filled with self-less deeds and a Nobel Peace Prize to boot. Do any Republican Presidents have a Nobel Peace Prize, I don't think so!
I will only focus on one of Jimmy Carter's impressive accomplishments, his commitment to the environment. Back in the 1970s, Jimmy Carter created the first National Energy Policy. And then Reagan came in and torched it in oil. Funny, cuz Bush said the reason we were in this environmental mess is because the U.S. has NEVER HAD an energy policy.
Jimmy Carter called the energy policy, "the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes." He also said, "We must not be selfish or timid if we hope to have a decent world for our children and grandchildren." How can you not have a crush on him?!
Ronald Reagan's first official acts of office included removing Jimmy Carter's solar panels from the roof of the White House (I am so proud he put them on in the first place), and reversing most of Carter's conservation and alternative energy policies.
In 1979, Jimmy Carter gave this speech called the "Crisis of Confidence" where he basically said all the things we are saying right now. Watch this speech and feel bad that we didn't listen to him, 30 years ago
