Many choose equality rather then discrimination as hundreds leave Mornon church after the passing of Prop. 8

Religion is a powerful thing. No matter what a person's beliefs are, they should be allowed to have them.
However, if someone chooses not to believe in that dogma anymore, it is their right to leave that religious institution. And that is what hundreds of Mormons have done in response to the Church's public support in banning Gay marriage in California.

This news report states that, "on just one anti-prop 8 website, they reportedly number in the hundreds. Some say they've already resigned; others are apparently about to."

The Church of Latter Day Saints was very active in supporting Proposition 8 and many left their homes in OTHER states just to travel to California and spread the word about the evils of Gay marriage.

Another thing that bugs me is Proposition 8 won 51% to 49%, meaning it won by the smallest margin possible. All the absentee ballots were not counted either, and speaking from experience, there are a lot of Californians who travel and are currently not living in the state. Winning by 1% is close enough to call a recall, don't cha think?

Protests have been going on in Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco in response to Prop. 8, hoping the public display will help overturn the constitutional amendment to ban Gay marriage in the state of California.

As I have stated before, even though many Californians have come out to support Gay marriage, the state as a whole is not as liberal as you think. It's also had a long history of discrimination against Gays (read previous blog about Harvey Milk to find out more) and even though I do not support Prop. 8, Californians have had a more conservative voting streak when it comes to state legislation.

I don't understand why some have their panties in a bind about this Gay marriage thing. Divorce is on the rise for the past decade and why not let Gay people be part of that statistic as well.
