The CBC has just reported that many places around the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) including Langley, Surrey, Delta and possibly Vancouver has had several counts of debit card fraud!
This news comes just as the Holiday season kicks off so i'm sure now everyone is super eager to go shopping! Ya right!
Several Safeways in the Lower Mainland have been compromised and they have also reported that independent retailers might be at risk as well.
There's no good advice to give right now but I guess if you can just deal in cash and only take out money from your Bank's ATM, that's a start.
Also, don't make huge purchases on your debit card. One family did so and lost a ton of money without realizing it.
Be humble and just make all your gifts this year, homeade jam anyone?
