Tedx UBC on Oct. 23rd, 2010 @ Robson Square: Come one, come all

Hello, I'm an intellectual junkie.
I'm so addicted to retaining, sharing and passing along any and every tid bit of information that I come across (I also filter out the crap).
So I've become a fan of TED talks. I like to describe it as intellectual porn but a better way of explaining it is providing a safe intellectual space for great minds to come together and create progress. This can be applied to all areas of intellectual learning including but not limited to: science, economics, culture, and new diplomacy.

So what is TEDx UBC?
It's trying to get great minds together to talk about the future of learning in an age of technology.
Will there be classrooms?
Will there be teachers?
Will there be school at all?
These are all issues that need to be examined and the central focus of the event is re-examining the way we look at education. The traditional education system as we know it is archiac and could definitely use alittle fine tuning.
My job is to spread the word about this event so we can get as many great minds, policy makers and most importantly students in the same space to discuss the future of education.
I'm also going to be hosting and demonstrating how to use online educational tools (like livestream, or even live meeting) as a platform to broadcast your ideas, lectures and information to the world.

Check out the list of speakers!

THIS EVENT IS FOR EVERYONE! This is not a class and no one will get a grade or a cookie for having a good idea. This is the ideal setting to share ideas and I cannot express enough that every idea counts. Whether you are a high school student who is disallusioned with the current education system, or a university alum who's pissed off that they can't translate what they learned in the classroom to a real-world setting.

Everyone should be a part of this dialogue and I encourage everyone's participation.
